The purpose of this gathering is to provide a space for young adults of 2.2:2 to learn and practice different kinds of prayer. More specifically, we hope to introduce three new spiritual disciplines that will not only clarify how prayer can be practiced, but open up new ways to deepen our relationship with God.
The day will be structured as follows: First, Chris and Michael will collectively teach about a spiritual discipline. Second, after the teaching, we will practice that discipline individually. Finally, we will reconvene as a group and reflect about our experience with that discipline. We will engage in this pattern three times.
Chris and Michael will choose three spiritual disciplines from the wider Christian tradition. The first spiritual discipline will be somewhat familiar to how we might typically pray on a day-to-day basis. The second and third disciplines will cover new ground. These newer disciplines will stretch, equip, and deepen our intimacy with God in a meaningful way as we seek to conform more into image of the invisible God. We will continue practicing these disciplines as a group at our Wednesday Night gatherings after this event.
