This week, guest speaker Lonnie Gentry reminded us of what it means to be the “salt of the earth” (Matt 5:13).

Discuss these questions with your small group, with friends or family, or journal your answers.

1. What contemporary societal trends would you identify as needing “salt”? Can you identify any aspects of culture that have deteriorated in your lifetime?
2. In the recent past, have you observed an example of a Christian or Christians being “the salt of the earth”? Can you share an occasion when you have been “salt”? 
3. In what ways is Highland being “the salt of the earth”? Which Highland ministries are especially “salty”?
4. Are Christians fulfilling their calling to be “the salt of the earth”? Am I fulfilling my calling to be “salt”?
